Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You’re IT New Concept Painting and Home Improvement!

Three questions with Ramon Martins, founder of New Concept Painting and Home Improvement.

Why did you start your business?

From the time I was very young, I wanted to have my own business. So while I was working as a painter, I had in my mind that I had to bring different approaches to people through my job; different ideas, and inspirations. For that, I needed to have more independence. So I decided to start my own business so I would be able to achieve my goals and fulfill my client’s needs.

It wasn’t easy, but through hard work, the right collaborators by my side, and help from all the community (since my company started in Port Chester, then moved to Stamford) I could bring my dream to reality.

What is your best-selling product/service?

My best selling service are my renovation projects.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

Interstate Lumber Store; Stamford Sherwin-Williams painting store; Pro Sign for my marketing materials; Fiesta Peruvian Restaurant that keeps us alive during the hard work!
